Experience

Jean-Louis has over 7 years of industry experience, mainly spent as a specification consultant for an architectural hardware manufacturer and distributor in the UK.

He earned a Diploma in Architectural Ironmongery (Dip.GAI) in 2017 with distinction.  The accreditation is internationally recognized in the door hardware industry, with its strongest presence in the UK.  Upon graduation, Jean-Louis was awarded the coveted Gold Medal, a distinction given to the student who achieves the highest marks in their final year and on the Guild’s technical hardware scheduling exams.

He maintains his status as a Registered Architectural Ironmonger and contributed to the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) Education Committee, helping to develop the Dip.GAI curriculum, including coursework and exam material.

As he shifts focus to the North American market, Jean-Louis has engaged with the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) and is working thorough their certification program.

Notable Projects

During his time as a specification consultant, Jean-Louis has worked on a variety of projects from government buildings near London to one-off residences on the Isle of Skye.

Carden Park Spa in Cheshire, England, included the full door hardware package.  Jean-Louis notes, “The PVD bronze used in front-of- house areas complemented the Spa’s well-appointed and warm aesthetic.”

Jean-Louis has also worked on multiple school and university projects, one being the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Lanarkshire campus.  “The building required robust solutions for high traffic areas, as well as discrete and understated products not to draw the public away from the contemporary design and spaces,” says Jean-Louis.
